About the Warehouse
Information for new and prospective residents
before they can borrow items from the front desk, reserve rooms, have overnight guests, or register to serve alcohol. The form only takes a few minutes, and can be completed either before or after you move in.
The Warehouse is a century old building which was completely renovated when it opened as an MIT graduate dorm in August of 2001. The roof deck was added two years later. Residents are housed in individual, furnished efficiency apartments with a kitchen and a private bath. Common rooms include a large multi-purpose room, a media room, a TV room with large screen TV and comfortable seating, a well-equipped gym, a laundry room,
a lending library, and several lounges.
Because the Warehouse is designated as a first-year graduate dorm, most residents are either first year MIT graduate students, or continuing students who are members of the dorm government. Incoming MIT graduate students may apply to live in the Warehouse through the New Student Lottery. For more information about housing assignments, license agreements, etc., please refer to the MIT Housing website.
Warehouse rooms are also available to MIT students and affiliates during the summer. For information about summer residence policies for current and incoming Warehouse residents, please go to the summer residence page. Other MIT affiliates interesting in staying in the Warehouse during the summer should email residence@mit.edu.
